The UNESCO Choir and Orchestra, a philharmonic ensemble, performs at official UNESCO ceremonies and gives concerts at UNESCO and outside. The Choir is composed of approximately 45 singers of all voices, members of UNESCO staff, of NGOs and singers from outside UNESCO, with varying levels of musical experience.
The Choir Director, Connie Glessner, and the Musical Director, Cyrille Kirilov, have wide experience in the teaching of music and singing. The Choir plans to give at least two concerts each year. For the 2018-2019 Season, preparations are under way for a concert in the Hemicycle of the Palais de l’Europe at Strasbourg as part of the 70 years’ celebration of the Council of Europe.
The Choir rehearses twice a week,Mondays from 18h30 to 20h , and Thursdays from 13h to 14h15 in UNESCO (Fontenoy). Choir members are asked, if possible, to attend at least one rehearsal a week.
The Choir receives no subvention for its activities and is self-funding. Choir members are therefore requested to pay inscription fees as follows:
