VOTING INSTRUCTIONS AND PROCEDURES

FOR THE ELECTIONS TO THE 66th STU COUNCIL

Dear colleagues,

The Executive Bureau of the UNESCO Staff Union (STU) has decided to use again this year electronic voting for the STU Council elections. The electronic voting system will be the one already used by UNESCO for elections to various representative bodies and the USLS elections. The system is fully independent so as to prevent any possibility of fraud.

The vote will be open on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th of March, from 9.30 a.m. until 4.30 p.m. , Paris time.

The voting procedure is as follows:

  1. The connection will be made possible on Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 March with a personal code that you will receive in a separate e-mail along with the link - wherever you are: at Headquarters, in a Field Office or elsewhere (at home, in a cybercafé, on vacation, etc.).
  2. Connection to the voting site
    The server will check that:

    • you have not already voted,
    • you are a member of STU in 2014 in order to be able to vote.
  3. The vote
You can vote by selecting one or more candidates or chose “Blank vote”.
Once your vote has been validated, you will not be able to change it and the server will perform two functions:

    • it will record the fact that you have voted (so you will not be able to vote again),
    • it will count the votes for the candidates for whom you have voted (and not record the name of the candidates for whom you have voted).

The results of the voting will be transmitted to the STU Secretariat and the tellers. The tellers are independent of the Council and of the Executive Bureau and as members of STU, they check that the elections have taken place in accordance with the rules.

VERY IMPORTANT: In order to be able to vote, you must have paid your STU membership fees for 2014.

For members in field offices , you must have sent (by email or fax) your membership application form duly completed by Thursday 20th March, 12 p.m. , Paris time. You will then receive a confirmation e-mail confirming your eligibility to vote (before closure of the vote)./p>

For members at Headquarters and the IIEP , you have until Thursday 20th March, 3 p.m. (the elections will end at 4.30 p.m.) to collect your card from the STU Secretariat (1 rue Miollis, Paris 15), and you can vote on a computer at the STU Secretariat.

Let's join forces, join STU!
