27 October 2017
Madame Director-General,
On September 21st, we sent you an open letter appealing to you for the last time, to reestablish the rights of 9 of our colleagues still downgraded since the redeployment exercise in (May 2014). To date, this letter remained unanswered.
More than three years later, we are still astonished by the dismissal of 7 of our colleagues , supposedly for economic reasons, whereas four of them, assigned in Field Offices, were G2 and G3. At the same time, 4 HRM colleagues were promoted , of which one with retroactive effect of 18 months, for a total cost to the Organization of 200,000 euros.
This episode is indicative of favoritism and of contempt of your Administration for some staff who have suffered greatly while unfairly promoting others.
After eight years of collaboration, the STU would have been honored to thank you for a strong and symbolic gesture of your commitment for justice and equity in staff management. We are unfortunately obliged to note that the humanism of which you boasted about during your two terms was only a facade.
Best regards,
Elia Matias
STU President.
