Save the date: STU Townhall Discussion

The STU brings your concerns to all staff meeting with the Director- General

Following the success and positive reception of STU’s first Townhall discussion, we are happy to announce that the next one will be held on

Tuesday 30 June 2015 at 12:30 in Room IV

It will be an opportunity to prepare for the all staff meeting with the Director-General, to take place on 6 July , so please join us to express your ideas, fears and hopes on your and UNESCO’s future in an informal and dynamic discussion.

During our last townhall meeting, we have already taken note of the following issues, just to name a few:

  • Increasing number of external workforce, hired to assume core functions of the Organization without any long-term perspective
  • Fear of externalization/delocalization of UNESCO’s core activities
  • Increasing pressure to work beyond official working hours resulting in significant deterioration of work-life balance
  • Difficulty to retain young qualified staff due to missing career development perspectives
  • Very slow improvement of gender balance & equity
  • No reflection on remote working policy
  • Abolition of the breastfeeding month.

In the meantime, the breastfeeding policy has been reviewed and rectified by the Administration, which we hope will be followed by other positive measures.

This, however, cannot be achieved without the collective support from staff, so as agreed at the last meeting, for every person who will attend, please bring at least one colleague with you.

Our collective and individual future depends on our capacity to be united and mobilized!

You can of course count on us to voice all the concerns to the Director- General, expressed at the meeting and/or sent by e-mail to president.stu@unesco.org. Be assured that your messages will remain confidential.

Please save the date in your agendas and we hope to see you there in large numbers.

The STU Council.
