Dear colleagues,
The Headquarters Committee is holding its 188th session on the 9th of March
Please find herewith the recommendation adopted by the General Assembly of the Commissary on the 24th of February. The General Assembly brings together all users of the Commissary: members of Delegations , NGOs and Secretariat. The STU calls on each of you to support it!
We remind you that the Commissary was conceived in the spirit of the first UNESCO civil servants as a kind of cooperative. We must not let die this beautiful idea!

Recommendation adopted by the General Assembly of the Commissary
February 24, 2015
The General Assembly of the Commissary,
Recalling the mandate of the UNESCO Commissary since its inception, which provides members of the UNESCO Secretariat and their families with goods and services it acquires, without profit, and distributes free of duty and/or tax- free, in accordance with its agreement with Headquarters;
Having considered the recommendations in the feasibility study prepared by the BDO Company;
Taking into consideration the conclusions of the Board of Administration on 21 January 2015, namely that the conclusions from the feasibility study did not respond to the recommendations set forth in the auditors’ report (192 EX/29 Part II) as these conclusions are incomplete and biased;
Requests the Director–General to take all necessary measures to maintain the operations of the Commissary, taking into account its balanced budget, and without prejudice to the mandate nor the staff of the Commissary.
