STU/6th BE/14/002
5 February 2014
Dear colleagues at Headquarters and Field Offices,
The STU will elect its 66th Council on 18, 19 and 20 March 2014. The Council is made up of 20 members elected for two years by the members of the Union by universal suffrage (Article IX.1).
The main mission of the Council is to defend the interests of staff through multi-faceted analysis of issues, while maintaining and reinforcing contacts with the Administration in respect of human resources management.
Since 2012 and the implementation of the redeployment exercise, the Council actively relayed the concerns of all staff members to the administration. In this difficult period for the Organization, Councilors will more than ever have to be available to support their colleagues, advise and assist them in their discussions with the administration.
The STU through FICSA (Federation of International Civil Servants’ Associations) composed of about 40 UN organizations, benefits from its expertise in collective bargaining and defense of the rights of staff. Furthermore, FICSA sits in various UN committees.
If you would like to take part in this work, you are welcome to do so. All kinds of skills and all possible strengths will be appreciated.
