Founded in 1947, the STU advocates for fair, transparent, and inclusive working conditions for all UNESCO employees worldwide. Our mission is to uphold staff rights, foster workplace diversity, and ensure safety and professional growth. Through active representation and support, we engage with UNESCO's leadership and international bodies to drive positive changes.
Explore our key activities, meet our Council and Board members, and stay informed through our newsletters on our journey toward a better UNESCO for all staff.

As active members of the "Federation of International Civil Servants' Associations" (FICSA) we bring our ideas to the UN General Assembly
We keep you informed about everything we are discussing with the administration, and, of course, you can contribute!
"If you are as passionate as us about being a United Nation servant join us and share your ideas"
Thanks to services proposed by STU in counsel, defence and representation, STU members may obtain information and have their voices heard on issues such as rotation/geographical mobility, employment contracts, promotions, recruitment, as well as mental health and safety and hygiene at the workplace.
STU Secretariat and the Executive Bureau may be consulted at any time via our [secure channels]() to share your suggestions, your stories or your concerns.
More broadly, STU represent the interest of staff members
When colleagues are experiencing difficulties in their working relationships or conditions, STU may help by giving them advice, intervening with the Administration, writing on their names letters or requests, accompanying them in their administrative procedures or before the appeal bodies.
For more than 3 years, STU has been fighting for colleagues who are not staff members, in particular for those who are on long-term temporary contracts.
Legal assistance is available to any person contractually linked with UNESCO, at Headquarters and in the Field. Besides staff members, diverse categories of temporary staff (consultants, supernumeraries, etc.) as well as interns can benefit from it.
STU proposes legal assistance for any problem UNESCO staff members may encounter in their professional environment, from informal conflict resolution in partnership with the Mediators and the Ethics Office, to assistance with lodging appeals to the UNESCO Appeals Board and ILO Administrative Tribunal.
To get assistance, you may come directly to STU (Fontenoy Building, offices F.007 and F.008) or contact the Secretariat by our secure e-mail.
The STU is a member of the Federation of International Civil Servants' Associations (FICSA), founded in Paris in 1952.
FICSA fosters the development of the international civil service in accordance with the principles set forth in the United Nations Charter and the constitutions of the specialized agencies.
STU believe firmly that sport and mental health are related. This is why STU proposes different activities such as yoga and chess lessons.
Also, if you are passionate about football, we offer preferential rates to attend the Paris Saint Germain football matches (Ligue 1 and Champions League) that take place at the Parc des Princes.
